Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapies

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has become an innovative, non-operative tool in the Regenerative Medicine community, utilizing a person’s own blood to accelerate healing and strengthen injured regions of the body.

PRP is a concentrate of platelets and growth factors derived from whole blood. Platelets play a central role in wound repair and are rich in growth factors. When concentrated down and injected back to a specific region, it stimulates a cascade of healing that can provide long-term improvements and strengthening.

Services offered at Natural Medicine of Seattle include:

  • Hair Restoration with PRP for hair loss and thinning
  • PRP Facial Rejuvenation for acne scars, fine lines
  • PRP Men’s Sexual Health: Penis Shot for erectile dysfunction
  • PRP Vaginal Rejuvenation for urinary incontinence, pain with sex
  • Prolotherapy for sports injuries and ligament / joint pain
  • Muscle tension pain relief with trigger point injections
  • Scar healing: C-sections scars, acne scars, damaged skin surfaces

What is the Process?

The procedure to obtain PRP is very straightforward and fairly quick. A regular blood draw is performed to collect your blood, which is processed in a centrifuge. This separates the platelets from your blood, creating the PRP used for your treatment. The PRP is then removed and prepared for your doctor to inject/apply.

What are the side effects?

Side effects are minimal, especially since we’re using PRP derived from your own blood. Depending on what procedure you do, your doctor will review all the post-procedure care to get you back to your activities with very little downtime.

When will I see results from PRP?

Each procedure will have its own number of sessions needed for maximum results. Most people notice a difference after just 1 session. These treatments do rely on your own body’s natural healing process, so rate of improvements will vary.

As Naturopathic Doctors, our philosophy is to address the whole person. Our goal is to not only treat the current symptoms, but also work with you to prevent future need for more intervention. We take a look at biomarkers such as inflammation, nutrient status, and stress hormones before you start receiving PRP injections. We are, after all, using your own blood; let’s make sure it’s at its best!

“I appreciate that Dr. Ikeda spends a lot of time with her patients… She looks carefully at both symptoms and test results to make a holistic healthcare plan, and then helps you triage the treatment options so you aren’t overwhelmed. I’ve experienced more relief with Dr. Ikeda in the past 6 months than I have in the past 10 years with other doctors and modalities.”
